JOHN ALFORD (1929- )
Primarily a painter of the Shropshire countryside, John is also a talented marine painter: two of his paintings are reproduced in Denys Brook-Hart’s 20th Century Marine Painting (ACC Art Books, 1999). He has exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of Marine Artists, Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Royal West of England Academy. He has been elected to membership of the Royal Society of British Artists and the New English Art Club. John has had many one-man shows in South Africa, France, Canada and the USA, as well as in the UK. His paintings are in public and private collections worldwide, and include commissions from the Royal Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.
